For starters, etiquette is an important element of good play. This includes general decency and maintaining an orderly stack of chips. It also includes using the right etiquette when dealing with other players.
A good rule of thumb for poker etiquette is to keep the hole cards as close to you as possible. If you are dealt a bad hand, it is not a good idea to angrily throw your card away.
Angrily throwing your card can also sabotage the game, as it could hurt the dealer. In a long table, a simple gesture like putting headphones on or walking around the room to discuss the situation with a fellow player might be sufficient.
Although not specifically written, the rules of official poker do have their own special names. One example is the “split pot.” It is a showdown between the two hands – the winner being the one with the best hand.
